Al-Razaq means "The Provider" and one of our most important values is corporate citizenship. We build and maintain strong bridges of support with the community through education, civic society, small business, and employee sponsorship programs.
Community Involvement Initiatives
Al-Razaq is involved in many initiatives that support diverse communities. We have contributed donations to The American Red Cross’s “Fire Hurts, Red Cross Helps” program, Disabled Veterans National Foundation, and National Veterans Foundation. Our sponsorship of programs that support at-risk youth include The Houston Area Urban League and Communities in Schools – Houston, a branch of the nation’s largest dropout prevention organization. The Sierra Leonean community acknowledged our years of continued support with a Certificate for Outstanding Contributions and Support. Believing in sports as a tool for communal camaraderie, Al-Razaq has sponsored the Sierra Stars of Houston soccer team and the Clear Lake High School Athletics department.
Small Business Sponsorship
Al-Razaq is passionate about providing resources that help other small businesses succeed. As a member of the Houston Minority Supplier Development Council (HMSDC), we participate in the Annual Expo, an event that facilities opportunities for small businesses, and the Annual Sports Classic, a fundraising event for educational scholarships for small business owners and employees. Moreover, we assist Houston-area small businesses with their development, growth, and business networking opportunities through our Mentor-Protégé agreements. We also participate in small business expos, summits, seminars, and networking events such as General Procurement Connections and Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance (WBEA).
Contribution to Yuri’s Night Bay Area 2011
Most recently, Al-Razaq contributed to Yuri’s Night Bay Area 2011. Human Spaceflight became a reality 50 years ago with the launch of a bell-shaped capsule called “Vostok 1” on April 12th, 1961. The capsule was carrying Soviet Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, who took his place in history as the first human to leave the bounds of Earth and enter outer space. After being just an idea for four years, Yuri’s Night, the World Party for Space, sprang into existence at the United Nations’ Space Generation Advisory Council Graz Conference in September of 2000. Yuri’s Night has become an annual event and is dedicated to bringing students and teachers together for a day of interactive learning, experiential science and fun.
